Eligibility & Making Changes

Eligibility to Play

Full-time Aristocrat employees working 30 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits on their date of hire. You will need to provide proof of relationship for all dependents added.

You can also cover:

  • Your legal spouse or domestic partner
  • Dependent children up to age 26, including biological, step, adopted, and foster children

For domestic partnerships to qualify, the relationship must meet two of the following three conditions:

  1. You must have common or joint ownership of a residence or a lease for a residence with both partners listed as tenants
  2. You must have at least two of the following:
    • Joint ownership of a vehicle
    • Joint checking account
    • Joint credit account
    • Durable power of attorney for health care or financial management
  1. The domestic partner must be designated as the primary beneficiary for at least one of the following:
    • Employee’s life insurance
    • Employee’s will
    • Employee’s 401(k)

Please note: Domestic partners are not eligible to participate in the Health Care FSA.

Healthcare Premium Tax Consequences: If you have a domestic partner who is not your tax dependent, your portion of the dependent coverage will be deducted on a post-tax basis. Any employer portion will be included in your taxable income.

Making Changes to Fit Your Playstyle

The choices you make as a new hire or during open enrollment are in effect for the rest of the plan year. Once you are enrolled, you must wait until the next open enrollment period to change your benefits or add/remove coverage for dependents, unless you have a Qualified Life Event (QLE) as defined by the IRS.

Examples of qualified life events or QLE include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Marriage, divorce, legal separation, annulment, or death of a dependent
  • Birth, adoption, or placement for adoption
  • Change in your work status that affects your benefits
  • Change in eligibility due to age, student status, Medicaid, or Medicare

Note: You have 30 days from the QLE date to make changes to your coverage. Keep in mind that any change you make to your coverage must be consistent with the change in status. You must also attach proof of your QLE to your request in Workday as well as proof of relationship for all dependents being added.
